Bulldogs Kick Off the Season at Home Against the Devils
On Friday, August 31 the Quinter High School football team took on Decatur Community for the season opener at home. The Bulldogs lost 46-0.
In the first quarter the Devils were able to pass by the Bulldogs’ defense and score a touchdown. However, the Bulldogs held the Devils from scoring the two point conversion. The Devils again took the ball back and scored a touchdown along with a two point conversion to end the first quarter 14-0. In the second quarter the Devils pushed past the Bulldogs’ defense and scored 16 points. The Devils’ defense held the Bulldogs from scoring. Heading into halftime the Devils led 30-0. In the third quarter the Bulldogs’ defense held the Devils to eight points. However, the Devils defense again held the Bulldogs offense to scoreless. In the final quarter of the game the Devils scored eight more points against the Bulldogs, while the Devils held the Bulldogs to zero. The Bulldogs lost the season opener 46-0.
On defense, Dustin Pister led the team with 14 tackles, followed by Clay Mader with nine and Kasen Ostmeyer with seven. Oura Chester pulled in an interception, while Chase Crites recovered a fumble for the Bulldogs.
“I thought that we didn’t compete to our full potential, and that we need to improve on both sides of the ball,” commented Pister.
The Bulldogs will be in action again on Friday, September 14 at home. The Bulldogs will compete against the Hoxie Indians. Kick off starts at 7:00 p.m.
